I recently moved up in the ranks at ACPR, from PR Assistant to Junior Publicist, and I couldn’t be more excited! But it didn’t just happen out of nowhere. It’s something I’ve been working towards for months, so this week #OTB I thought I’d share some of my tips and tactics for landing that big promotion. Keep reading for 6 small things you can start implementing now!
+ Set small goals
Ask for feedback on your work and make goals for yourself. Reevaluate them every month and track your progress.
+ Own it
If I’ve learned anything from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, it’s to own everything I do. At work, be resourceful and own your projects from start to finish, without having to ask for help.
+ Go above and beyond
When you have down time or complete something early, always ask if there are any extra tasks or projects you can help with. This will show that your dedicated and willingness to take on a bigger role.
+ Give input
If you have ideas, from fun pitch angles to team bonding activities, say it! Voicing your opinion will involve you in the bigger picture and help show your worth.
Work hard on your assignments and finish them on time (or early!). When you’re consistently getting everything on your to-do list done by the end of the week, it won’t go unnoticed.
+ Be humble
Kendrick Lamar said it best: Accept praise and criticism with grace and show your gratitude. Staying humble will allow you to grow and become the best version of yourself!
